How to View a STEP File Online

Open a solid model in your browser without installing CAD software. The same flow works for IGES and BREP files. Full walkthrough: How to view a STEP file online.

1

Upload your CAD file

Drop a STEP (.stp / .step), IGES (.igs / .iges), or BREP (.brep / .brp) file into the upload area above. No account is required.

2

Inspect the 3D preview

Rotate, pan, and zoom the interactive 3D model in your browser. Use the viewer to check overall shape and features before you open desktop CAD.

3

Review detected holes

Asytra highlights automatically detected holes so you can verify bore features at a glance. Then optionally expand into an indicative CNC quote.

Supported CAD Formats

One free online CAD viewer for the exchange formats machining shops use most often. Not sure which to send? Read STEP vs IGES vs BREP.

STEP file viewer

.stp .step

STEP (ISO 10303) is the standard exchange format for CNC quoting and supplier handoffs. Upload a STEP file to view the solid geometry online with hole detection.

IGES viewer

.igs .iges

IGES remains common for legacy CAD exports. Open IGES models in the same browser viewer when partners still send .igs or .iges files.

BREP viewer

.brep .brp

BREP solids from Open CASCADE-based tools can be previewed online without converting to STEP first. Useful for engineering and CAM workflows that still exchange BREP.

CAD Viewer FAQ

Answers about the free STEP viewer, file handling, and optional CNC quoting.

Yes. The Asytra CAD Viewer is free to use in your browser. Upload a STEP, IGES, or BREP file for an interactive 3D preview with automatic hole detection. No account or credit card is required for viewing.
No. You can upload and view CAD files without signing in. An account is only needed if you want to use the full Asytra Quote Dashboard or embed the Quote Widget on your own website.
The viewer accepts STEP (.stp, .step), IGES (.igs, .iges), and BREP (.brep, .brp) files. These are the most common exchange formats for CNC machining shops and mechanical design handoffs.
Files are processed so the viewer can render a 3D preview and detect holes. Demo uploads use Asytra demo shop rules for optional indicative pricing. Do not upload confidential production files to the public demo if your company policy forbids it. Production Quote tenants process files under your company account.
Yes. After the 3D preview loads, you can expand into Asytra Quote for indicative machining time and cost estimates based on demo shop rules. Prices on this page are not binding. For production quoting with your machines and materials, register for Quote early access.
Yes. On upload, Asytra analyzes the solid model and highlights detected holes in the interactive 3D preview so you can inspect bore features without opening desktop CAD software.
Very large assemblies or complex solids may take longer to parse or may need manual review. For best results, upload a single machined part rather than a multi-body assembly. If a file fails to load, try exporting a cleaner STEP from your CAD system or contact Asytra with an example file.
The public page is Asytra's free viewer demo. Machining shops can embed the Asytra Quote Widget (viewer plus instant pricing and lead capture) on their own website. See Quote docs or register for early access.
